My first Enterprise iPhone implementation
Speed up iPhone development with SUP
A while ago I wrote that I don’t think that the iPhone is ready for the enterprise market – and now I implement SAP on the iPhone for a major telco. Things change fast ;-)
We evaluated multiple options on how to bring SAP to the iPhone – in that process I worked with the worst SAP Mobile framework ever (no, not Mobile Infrastructure; and no – I can’t tell you the name because of a NDA). It is crazy what some companies try to sell to its customers. But we learned a lot during the process and now we move forward with the SUP platform from Sybase. It is clearly the best way to bring business processes offline to the iPhone.
Sybase was the natural choose: Market leader in the Enterprise mobility platform market (according to Gartner), support of the iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Win32 and backed up by SAP.
We will implement two things in parallel: The standard SAP/Sybase CRM application and a custom process, which will also be implemented for the Blackberry platform.
I’m happy to have this chance because the iPhone is by far my favorite gadget of all times and I have the chance to prove myself wrong: I can show that the iPhone is ready for the enterprise market.
More information about the iPhone implementation will follow …
