iPhone battery life

It runs longer then you might think ...

On an average business day, the battery of my iPhone has to be charged once. If I don’t do it, I’m in trouble the next day. I guess I use it too much ;-) If I deactivate the push services for email, calendar and the FC Bayern application, I can run two days on one charge.

Now I was in the Bay Area for two weeks and I deactivated roaming. During that time I hardly used the iPhone for anything else then phone calls (yes, that is possible with the iPhone too). 3G and WLAN were deactivated as well and I only used the device once in a while to add something to Evernote. You will not believe it, but it was enough to charge the battery once a week. But when you think about it – this should not be too surprising. The battery must be empty pretty quick if we browse the web all the time, if push, 3G, WLAN and many other features are active. If we set the brightness to 100%. If we use the iPhone like to telephone only, it will run as long as a telephone does on one battery charge. But we don’t …

Still, the iPhone will not be able to compete with my old Nokia 6820: I have not used it in 1 ½ years, it was switched off in my office. When I recently saw it, I started it up and the battery still had power – wow! But is that a reason to go back? Of course not - the battery was never the limiting factor. There must be something really wrong if I can't find a power plug for more than one day...
