Sybase Mobile Sales for SAP CRM - Hands On
Two weeks in California at the SAP Labs Palo Alto
msc mobile was one of the few companies that had the opportunity to get their hands dirty with the latest Mobile CRM solution for SAP.
Sybase invited us to take an exclusive first look at their Mobile Sales solution for SAP before it was shipped to the first beta customers. To participate we travelled to SAP Labs in Palo Alto and spent two weeks there working with a team of Sybase and SAP experts.
During those two weeks we did a complete implementation, starting with the customizing of SAP CRM 7.0, the setup and configuration of the NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 (aka DOE) middleware and last but not least the Sybase pieces of the solution: The Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP) 1.5 server and the mobile clients for Windows Mobile and iPhone.
It was a great experience working with the guys from SAP and Sybase and we learned a lot during those 10 days. This solution delivers as promised!
Even though I already had a demo version of the iPhone client on my device for months, it is something else to see the opportunity that you just updated on your iPhone is visible in the backend SAP system – miraculously synchronised.
The Windows Mobile version of the client is great, but don't get me wrong - it just can’t compete with the iPhone version. That is not the fault of Sybase or SAP, it's just that the iPhone is so much more user-friendly then any Win Mobile device.
I think customers will have a lot of fun with this solution!
